Returns
What's your return policy?
You can return items within 14 days of delivery. Items must be unworn, unwashed and have all tags attached. Please start your return via our Returns Portal. For full details, see our Returns & Exchanges page.
Please also keep in mind that shipping returns generates greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to climate change. We therefore encourage you to choose your items thoughtfully to help reduce unnecessary return shipments.
What should I do if I receive a damaged item?
We carefully inspect every item before it is sent to you, but in rare cases issues may still occur during production or handling.
If you experience a problem with your order, please select the appropriate return reason in our Returns Portal and upload a short description and photo. Our customer service team will review your request and get back to you as soon as possible. More information can be found here.
Please note that certain product characteristics (e.g. minor shrinkage or pilling) are considered normal and not faults. Colors and measurements may vary. Jersey garments may shrink (up to 5%) upon the first wash. Knitwear and some other fabrics may pill. This is typically not considered a reason for a reclamation, as it is a natural effect caused by the wear of wool and cashmere products and can easily be removed.
For more information please visit our care guide.
Are returns free?
Return shipping costs vary by country. In Germany, it’s €6.50 (free for size exchanges); other countries have different rates. See the Returns & Exchanges page for a full breakdown.
How should products be returned?
Please make sure all returned items are unworn, unwashed and in their original condition with all tags attached. Items should be neatly folded and packed in the original box, including the packing slip.
Returns must be registered in our Returns Portal within 14 days of delivery and sent back promptly after registration. Returns that are not registered or arrive after the 14-day period cannot be accepted or refunded.
Swimwear must be returned with all hygiene seals and tags still attached. For trying on swimwear, please wear underwear underneath.
Can I try on your products?
Of course you can try on your products. Please make sure they remain in original condition, as we cannot accept returns if there are traces of makeup, deodorant or perfume.
For swimwear, we kindly ask you to try it on over underwear.

Garment Care
How do I care for my The Slow Label garments?
Please refer to the care label inside your garment and the product page for detailed care instructions. In general, we recommend washing less frequently, using low temperatures for non-wool garments, avoiding bleach and fabric softeners, and air-drying whenever possible to help extend the life of your garments.
Many pieces can simply be aired out between wears instead of washed after every use. Wool and knitwear often do not need frequent washing and benefit from gentle care, careful storage and drying flat to help maintain their shape over time.
Natural wear such as slight shrinkage, pilling or small variations in colour and measurements can occur and are part of the character of certain fabrics and fibres. Pilling, especially on knitwear and wool products, can easily be removed with gentle care.
For more detailed recommendations and care tips, please visit our Garment Care Guide. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at support@theslowlabel.com.
Do you have general care tips for more conscious garment care?
Yes. We believe garment care is part of building a more conscious wardrobe, and that small everyday habits can significantly extend the life of your clothes.
For our full care philosophy and practical guidance on washing, drying and storing garments, please visit our Garment Care Guide.
Sustainability
Where are your clothes made?
Our pieces are produced in small, specialist factories in Portugal, Italy and formerly also India. We maintain long-term relationships, visit regularly and choose partners for their expertise, working conditions and shared values.
Each product page includes details about where it was made, and you can learn more on our Factories & Suppliers page.
What materials do you use?
Each product page includes detailed information about the fabrics and materials used. When sourcing textiles, we prioritise natural, organic and recycled fibres wherever possible, always with a focus on quality, durability and longevity.
Across our collections, we regularly work with materials such as TENCEL™ Lyocell, organic and recycled cotton, linen, raffia, recycled cashmere, responsible wool and ECONYL® regenerated nylon. We choose these materials for their lower environmental impact, durability and ability to be worn and loved for years.
Whenever possible, we avoid conventional synthetic or resource-intensive materials and instead source certified, recycled or lower-impact alternatives.
To learn more, please visit our Better Materials page.
Why do some products include elastane or synthetic fibres?
Most of our collection is made from mono-materials to support durability, recyclability and easier end-of-life processing. However, in some cases, a small amount of elastane or synthetic fibre is necessary to improve comfort, fit, performance or longevity.
Where stretch is needed, we use more responsible alternatives whenever possible, such as Roica™ V550 elastane. We also use recycled polyester sewing threads in many products to improve strength and durability.
Over time, we have shifted from aiming for “100% natural at all costs” to focusing on materials that allow garments to be worn and loved for many years. In some cases, this means choosing a small synthetic component if it helps a piece retain its shape, quality and lifespan over time.
What trims and additional materials do you use?
When sourcing trims and additional materials, we prioritise natural, recycled and lower-impact options wherever possible. Our labels are made from organic cotton and recycled polyester, our buttons from materials such as corozo nut, casein or bioresin, and our elastics from organic cotton and natural rubber. We also use FSC® certified and recycled paper for most packaging and printed materials. Whenever possible, we work with trusted European suppliers and manufacturers.
To learn more, please visit our Better Materials page.
Are your products vegan?
Many of our products are vegan. However, some pieces - such as our knitwear, coats and scarves - are made using certified wool, recycled wool or recycled cashmere. Each product page includes detailed material information to help you make an informed choice.
Do you have any certifications?
While we source materials from mills that use certified fibres or certified processes (such as GOTS or RWS at the material level), The Slow Label itself is not certified and can therefore not disclose those material-level certifications on the product pages. We made this choice for two reasons:
- Brand-level certifications require significant administrative resources that would increase costs without necessarily improving the quality or traceability of our garments, and
- Most certifications are designed for raw materials or single, large factories — not for small brands producing across multiple specialised facilities. Several of the family-run factories we work with are not certified and do not have the financial or administrative capacity to obtain certification, despite their high standards and craftsmanship.
That said, we are exploring one to two targeted certifications that would allow us to certify selected best-selling products in the future. This would let us reference material-level certifications directly on our product pages and offer even clearer traceability where it provides real value.
For now, our focus remains on material documentation, responsible suppliers and transparent product-level information, rather than relying on a single label to represent our entire supply chain.
If you aren’t certified, how do you make sure your materials are responsible?
We work with mills and suppliers who can provide documentation on fibre origin, dyeing processes and certifications at the material level. This ensures traceability without overstating what a brand-level certification would imply. We select materials based on quality, longevity and impact.
How are orders packaged and shipped?
All orders are shipped from our warehouse in Berlin using either DHL GoGreen or FedEx.
We ship in FSC® certified cardboard boxes and FSC Mix certified paper mailers that are designed to be easily opened and re-closed, making returns simpler without the need for additional plastic tape. Wherever possible, we also use recycled and FSC® certified packaging materials. Orders are carefully wrapped in tissue paper and sealed with paper stickers to reduce unnecessary plastic use.
